We’re very excited to announce the launch of our own range of bags and clutches.
Frustrated by not being able to find stylish yet affordable accessories we wanted to buy, bags that were fashionable, practical and would stand the test of time, we decided to make our own.
Whilst we’re a sucker for aesthetics and great design, we care as much about how a product is made, as how it looks, that’s why we chose to partner with Duffle & Co.
Founded by Danny and Kai, two young Kiwis with a vision to make the world that little bit better, Duffle & Co is on a mission to seek out talented artisans around the region and work with them closely to produce a range of remarkable goods, that have been lovingly made by hand, using processes that are gentler on people and the planet. Whilst still a relatively new company, their sustainable efforts have already been recognised and we’re delighted for them that they have just received their official BCorp certification, a notable milestone for the work they do.
Through the partnerships they forge, they are not only producing beautifully made products consumers want to buy, but in the process they are directly helping the small local suppliers build a sustainable future for themselves by creating a pipeline of work, ensuring job opportunities, enabling them to expand their workshops, supporting local communities and helping them to send their children to school.
After deciding on the style of bags we wanted for our launch range, and sharing initial design ideas, we flew to Bali to meet with the boys and the wonderful Sundari and Gitto.
With 20 plus years of working for other companies, this phenomenal and very friendly couple now run their own thriving workshop at the front of their house in Canggu, and are a mine of information.
With the emphasis on only using quality materials, and no mass production assembly lines, we spent time discussing designs and exploring a range of gorgeous leather, working out which was best to use for each style of bag – super soft lambskin for the clutches, supple goatskin for the shoulder bags and sturdier cowhide for the bucket bag.
The hardest part was choosing which colours to go for. We wanted our range to subtly add a sophisticated touch to any outfit, that’s why we have kept branding discreet and opted for a palette of neutral tones, complimented by a few vibrant shades, the perfect way to add a little wow factor to your everyday.
Working with the team has been an exciting journey and and incredibly enjoyable experience. Their combined knowledge of what works and their unwavering enthusiasm to try new ideas, has resulted in a range of clutches and bags we truly love and are delighted to put our name to, safe in the knowledge that each item has been carefully crafted with the highest level of attention to detail to ensure it doesn’t just look great now but will stand the test of time.
We’re in awe of the work they do, delighted by the range of goods they have produced and pleased that every bag we sell will help Sundari achieve her goal of sending her younger daughter to school in the city, and one day owning a house away from the workshop
